Owning a vintage watch carries with it some responsibilities and care points

1

Avoid Water Exposure

Keep your vintage watch away from water to prevent damage to its internal components and avoid rusting. If the watch gets wet, seek assistance from a watchmaker.

3

Service Every 3-5 Years

Have your vintage watch serviced by a professional every 3 to 5 years to ensure all mechanical parts function properly.

5

Avoid Magnetic Fields

Keep the watch away from strong magnetic fields as they can affect the accuracy and operation of the mechanical movement.

7

Do not drop

Vintage watches can be delicate and if dropped or suffer impact can suffer.

2

Store Properly

Store your watch in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to avoid damage to the artwork.

4

Handle With Care

Wind gently and do not force any component if feeling a lot of resistance. Old watch parts can break easily so if it doesn't feel right, check with a watchmaker.

6

Manual Winding

Many watches require daily manual winding (they are not automatic). Wind the watch each day you wear it by gently turning the crown until you feel a little resistance (this is the mainspring being tightened)

8

Regular Cleaning

Gently clean your watch with a soft cloth to remove dust and sweat, preventing corrosion and maintaining its shine.
