The Seiko 7625 is a simple, sporty movement, a popular workhorse movement (or a movement that runs diligently through thick and thin) available around the middle of the 20th century, just before the Quartz Crisis flipped the industry upside down.

This Seiko 7625-8293 from 1968 needed a few parts replacing and someone at some point had given it a striking red seconds hand.

It was an option to replace this red hand with something more in line with the original (if not a contemporary replacement) however, another option, and the one chosen, was to treat the addition as part of the story of the watch's life.
