Butterflies

The butterfly is one of natures creatures that most lends itself to metaphors. Starting out life as a slow moving and (tpyically considered) ugly caterpillar, before entering a chrysalis as it metamorphoses into a beautiful and graceful butterfly. This change process is remarkable in how drastically different the pre and post states are. The butterfly represents the post-transformed state, something that people appreciate visually, versus the caterpillar previously. However, we chose not to make the butterfly overly intricate or beautiful, because fundamentally, the butterfly is the same creature that it was before the change. People tend to consider a butterfly more beautiful but the creature is still the same soul as it always was; and on what basis is a butterfly beautiful and a caterpillar not? In the case of these watches, they have undergone the change in both directions. They began as butterflies, considered beautiful, time changed them to caterpillars, considered not beautiful, and they've been repainted in the hope that people find them beautiful once more. Fundamentally, they are the same thing, regardless of the aesthetic.
