Blossoms and birds are a regular feature in both Japanese and Chinese art, symbolizing freedom and fortune.

The grey sunburst dial of the watch required a clean design and style to avoid becoming too complex and unsightly, therefore a monochrome black and white was chosen. Black was kept to a minimum because often when mixed with white it can appear slightly blue which would have been incompatible with the ash grey of the existing dial.
