Part of the appeal of comic books has always been their ability to turn abstract ideas into something visual. Here, time becomes a physical object, something that can be fought against, defused, or lost. The drama may be fictional, but the underlying message is familiar.

The phrase “No Time to Waste” works on two levels. It is the thought running through the character’s mind as the clock counts down, but it is also directed towards the wearer. Watches have always been reminders that time is limited. Every passing second is gone for good.

Beneath the comic book action is a simple idea: make the most of the time you have. Some deadlines are imaginary, but the passage of time itself is not.
