Seahorse

This piece was an attempt to create a kind of window within a watch. Doxa is famous for it's relationship with the sea, so is a perfect canvas for oceanic themes, in this case an endangered seahorse. It is possible to create a painting across a full dial that creates a sense of viewing into a different world, while a partial dial painting still retains the sense that one is looking at a watch; while a small surface painting is most definitely more of an adornment to the dial. The goal here is to see if a partial dial painting can create an immersive environment for the viewer.
