This piece was created as a gift for a guitarist, inspired by the atmosphere of a small live performance.

Rather than depicting a large stage or concert hall, I wanted to capture something more intimate; the connection between performer and audience that can emerge when music is experienced in a smaller space. The focus is not on spectacle, but on the moment itself.

The original dial featured a palette of muted colours that naturally suggested a dimly lit venue. Rather than working against those tones, the artwork was designed around them, allowing the existing character of the watch to help establish the mood of the scene.

One of the more unusual elements of the composition is the number 10 index, which has been incorporated into the artwork as a spotlight. What began as a functional feature of the watch became part of the narrative, illuminating the performer and helping to draw the viewer’s attention towards the centre of the scene.

Music has a unique ability to become associated with particular periods of our lives. Songs can transport us back to places, people and experiences long after the moment itself has passed. This piece is a celebration of live music, and of the memories that often accompany it.
